How to choose S3 object storage hosted in Türkiye

Evaluate data location, access keys, application compatibility, restore tests and total cost when you choose S3-compatible object storage.

S3-compatible object storage keeps files as objects in buckets, addressed through object keys and an API. It is useful for application uploads, archives and backup targets. It has a different access model from a block disk attached to a server. Skypium object storage is hosted in Türkiye; evaluate access controls and commercial terms as well as location.

Object storage or block storage?

Moving database files into a bucket does not automatically replace a block device. Check which storage model your application supports.

Verify data location

Ask where primary data, replicas and backups are stored. Review support access, subprocessors and retention separately. A location in Türkiye alone does not establish compliance with every legal obligation. Assess your workload with the appropriate specialist. See the published Skypium data locality information.

Limit access key exposure

Use separate credentials for production and test applications. Do not put keys in source code or browser bundles. Keep them in a secure server configuration mechanism. If your application supports signed URLs, use short expiry periods for file sharing. Anyone who receives a valid link may be able to access the object until the link expires.

Test compatibility with your application

Use your SDK to upload, download, list and delete both small and large files. Test multipart uploads, custom metadata or specific bucket features if your software requires them. Basic S3 compatibility does not promise every extension from another provider. The AWS object documentation explains the underlying object model; it is not a statement of Skypium feature support.

Compare cost and recovery

Check storage, request, transfer and protection charges in each offer. Providers do not necessarily charge for the same resources in the same way. Use the current Skypium pricing page for applicable rates. A successful backup upload is only one part of protection: restore to an isolated test destination and verify file integrity and application behavior. Review the wider backup and recovery options when you plan retention and recovery.
